The story so far

I'm exactly half way through. In October 2014, I started studying for my MA in Online and Distance Education through the Open University. When I started out, I had a vague idea of which modules I might study but now, that's all much clearer.

Dates Code Module title Credits
Oct 2014 - Oct 2015 E854 Investigating language in action 60
Oct 2015 - Mar 2016 H818 The networked practitioner 30
Sept 2016 - Jan 2017 H810 Accessible online learning: supporting disabled students 30
Feb 2017 - Oct 2017 H800 Technology-enhanced learning: practices and debates 60
I found E854 really difficult. It was the first time I had studied research models and although I found it highly stimulating, it was also frustrating as I couldn't achieve the high standards that I had set for myself.

By contrast I thoroughly enjoyed H818 in every respect. I felt that I had plenty of prior knowledge to bring to the course and because of that, I also learned so much, particularly about online networking. I actually enjoyed doing the TMAs and the EMA because the project was based on real work that I was doing in my day job.

Because of the timings of courses, I've now had a 6 month break from study. That's probably no bad thing to have right in the middle of the whole picture but now, I'm eager to start studying again. That's why I thought I'd get my new blog set up today. Saturday is my study day so until the module website opens on 9th August and the course starts on 3rd September, I'll use this blog to prepare my thoughts.
